SERVE Secures Irish Aid Support for
Think Global Act Local 2025

SERVE is delighted to announce that we have once again been awarded funding under Irish Aid’s Global Citizenship Education (GCE) programme for 2025.

This grant will support Think Global Act Local (TGAL), SERVE’s main educational programme focused on empowering people in Ireland to take informed, local action on global justice issues.

TGAL has been SERVE’s main educational programme for the past three years. Thanks to a generous €16,000 grant from Irish Aid’s Global Citizenship Education fund at the Department of Foreign Affairs, we can continue it into 2025. SERVE will also co-fund the programme to bring the total investment to over €20,000.

TGAL will run from April 2025 to March 2026. It will engage young people, educators, and local volunteers through in-person workshops at Scala in Cork, interactive online sessions, and a virtual exchange with communities in the Global South.

This year’s programme will explore key themes including poverty, inequality, climate action, and responsible consumption, encouraging participants to reflect, connect, and take action as SDG Champions. A youth-led project will also enhance the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) trail located at Scala in Cork, creating a digital resource that allows schools and community groups to engage with global citizenship education in an accessible, meaningful way.

“We’re delighted to continue offering this space for learning and action with the support of Irish Aid,” said Paula Quigley, Programme Manager at SERVE. “TGAL 2025 will help participants build confidence, empathy, and practical skills to make a difference locally and globally.”
