Strategy Paper on engaging young people in the squatter camps in TVET

Strategy Paper on Engaging People from the Squatter Camps in TVET (Technical & Vocational Education & Training)

Skills training is an important factor in breaking the poverty cycle in marginalised communities like squatter camps. Possessing skills increases income generation potential for individuals through gaining employment and establishing micro-enterprise in the community and informal sector, which in turn benefits the community. This paper draws on the methods for engagement used by SERVE’s partner in South Africa, Tsholofelo Community, as a case study for establishing a successful strategy.
