Shared Advocacy Campaign on HIV/AIDS in 2012
Throughout the SDP, SERVE will run Shared Advocacy Campaigns on the issues on HIV and AIDS, Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET), the role of the voluntary sector and Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC). They are focused on raising awareness, critical thinking and active citizenship among the general public to contribute towards a movement for change in favour of the MDGs and contributing to the Post-2015 MDG agenda.
In 2012, SERVE rolled out an advocacy campaign on HIV/Aids, with the aim of engaging individuals on the topic and raising awareness, critical thinking and active citizenship among our network of volunteers. SERVE believes that volunteers have the ability to be the best advocates for the issues they’ve seen while on placement. Volunteers have a role to play in meeting the MDGs, and they engage in critical discussion and participatory learning during development education workshops during preparation, throughout their placement and upon their return.
